COVID-19 WILL LEAD UP TO EXPORT SUPPORT MEASURES
6 May 2020
This was told by the Director General of JSC Russian Export Center Veronika Nikishina. The Russian Export Center (https://www.exportcenter.ru/press_center/news/covid-19-privedet-k-apgreydu-mer-podderzhki-eksporta/) has intensified the review and updating of the product offer for Russian exporters.

- The Russian export center is constantly developing, striving to get ahead of trends in the world practice of export support, to develop and maintain a competitive offer of measures to support exporters. The COVID-19 pandemic is a great incentive to do this work more intensively and better. Our task is to meet the demand of exporters who have also stepped up their development agenda: they seek to enter new markets, optimize business processes, produce new products and services that will be in demand today and tomorrow, during the period of economic recovery after the coronovirus, its transformation, ”said Veronika Nikishina.

The Director General emphasized that the global epidemiological situation has made significant changes to the work of the Center both at a strategic and at a functional level.

“We must transform our products to meet new economic challenges.” These difficult times underlined the need to strengthen the market role of the Center. We must generate new products, improve old ones, and also abandon unclaimed ones, ”Veronika Nikishina believes.

It is expected that a number of niche needs of exporters will be closed, including the expansion of value propositions in the lines of financial and non-financial products. In the coming days, the Center will launch work on developing updated products with focus groups of exporters representing both small, medium and large businesses. The updated REC product line will appear this summer.

All this work is carried out in sync with the processes of digital transformation of the provision of export support services. The REC sets ambitious targets for digitalizing all public services for exporters, including subsidies, certification and licensing with the gradual rejection of paper documents. This task is designed to implement the information system "Single Window". In addition, the center’s management is considering revising the top-level KPIs to support exports and update them within the current international environment.

“It is important to note that the economic crisis that follows the pandemic will force us and the business to review our traditional export niches and industries,” said Veronika Nikishina.

The Russian export center is already developing measures to support exporters not only to adapt to the conditions of work within the framework of a pandemic, but also to develop a support strategy in the post-crisis period.
